It is very tempting to write in this section how amazing we are. It will come, of course, but here is a short story on how it all started.

Our story began long time ago. There was a girl who dreamed about making films and cartoons. Everyone around laughed. It was not serious to them, being a dentist like her mother was. Fortunately, her family never told her that she was delusional and needed to pick “a real job”. When she was about 4 years old she got a toy photo camera, it was long lost but the memories of it and the first stimulus remained and grew. This girl played, she made tiny magazines with her friends, sharing stories about each other, she also had the access to a family camera and made films with friends, using ketchup and pink hair gel as a make-up for horror movies they created, and she continued to believe. The road to the dream (she is still on this road) was never straight, but was quite bumpy. There has never been a film school but were tons of experience in journalism and documentary, things been learned in the field, mistakes have been made. And then life threw another ball and in 2022 she started her own production company.

And here are some words on how cool we are. We are a production company run from the heart of Helsinki with outreach across the Nordics and around the globe. Launched 2022, we have already made a number of fascinating projects for some very exciting clients, like Lynx Snowmobiles, Supercell, BCG, the UN and Vox, and many more. Some of our productions, include Spirit, a feature documentary which is available on Amazon Prime, features for Mediapart and one more documentary is coming to Netflix soon. We believe in the power of story and storytelling. Stories help with communication, great stories can move mountains, help a brand, change mentalities and even the world, gradually but surely.

Dragonfly Productions is founded by Ekaterina Chernyaeva. Ekaterina has profound storytelling and production experience. She worked with various news media outlets before (Associated Press, ITV, Sky News, Mediapart, France 5, TF1, CBC, ABC, and many more) and a significant part of her experience lies in journalism and in documentaries, she also produced videos for B2C and B2B clients, including Google, The United Nations and Vox, Kemppi, National Geographic, KONE, Wartsila, UPM, and many more. She studied at Central St Martins College and also earned her Masters from Goldsmiths, University of London.
